The Third Rank For a Fun Based Army.

Ιt was easier than i thought. After extensive practice on the blue colour (Thanks to my old Ultramarine project) the Elven Archer Rank was fun and fast to make. The only problem I encountered was the bow.I tried the "Bleached Bone" colour for it but
I didn't like it at all so, I used "Calthan Brown".

Unfortunately WFBS is for me way less attractive by the moment. It is not a problem of the models or the rules. It is a problem of a very competitive community which uses 3 sets of rules for a single game. You've got to know the main rules, the ETC rules and your own rules. Nope, this is not the meaning of fun for me.

I will stick to the projects I currently have but I don't think that I will play the game outside of the Battle Bunker Club.

Α work in progress .A Sanguinary priest made out of a out of production model.

A quick painting unit for a quick painting army.

Squad complited. Well, with my quite low standards the unit doesn't look too bad. The bad news is that I am out of models and I will have to wait for Maelstrom to deliver my order that I placed a week ago, of a new Cabalite warrior Squad and 2 Raiders. So, back to the old projects then. Where did I place those fancy High Elves?

Multy Melta from Above.

A land speeder is a great asset for every Space Marine Commander. The main advantage in having a Land Speeder in your roster is that you can apply reliable Anti Tank Firepower at very low cost. This low pointwise cost is what helps a Land Speeder survive the battles. No one wants to spend the Las Cannon shots he's got to down a 60point model. Even with this high str. weapon the destruction of a speeder is not guaranted. If your opponent's result is miss to-hit rolls or a crew stunned or crew shaken then for them is a waste of fire power and for you is a double gain.
1.The land speeder is still a threat
2.The missed shot didn't go to a more pricey unit like a predator or razorback.
That's why a land speeder must be cheap. I arm mine with only a Multy Melta and a Heavy Flamer. Both twin linked in a space marine army commanded by Vulcan Hestan. Excellent for Tank Hunting or Anti Light Infatry roles.
Don't be afraid to play aggresively with your Speeders after all it's just 70 points.
Happy Hunting.

High Elf Archer Test Model

Οne of the best aspects of this game was always the question ''Whats next?''. With the completion of two Sword Master ranks Ι was left with Sea Guard, Reavers and the Heroes of the "Island Of Blood" Boxed Set. The problem was that Ι wanted to invest some time to archers. Well Ι had some archers but the main issue was that no matter how many test models Ι painted i wasn't satisfied with the results. Finally, after some thought I gave a try to a bllue colour scheme and thankfully I liked it a lot. Here it is then, a High Elf Archer in all its blue glory. Now I just need to paint another 4 to complete the rank. I hope you all like it.

A Dark Eldar Combat Squad (five models)

I finished this small squad  in no time. Unlike many of my other projects the DarK Eldar one is unique. You see I want to play NOW, so i hope in April to have a full 1750p Army assembled, painted, based ready to roll.
So with speed in mind I based my scheme to something simple but ellegant, something easy but not messy. Something to be of tabletop quality but not the ugly models I have witnessed in some tournament.
Thus, I chose Silver.
The painting is simple, quick and effective.
A couple coats of chainmail silver, a wash of Babad Black and some mithril silver highlights for the armour.
The undersuit is plain black.
The base is drybrushes of Adeptus Battle Gray, Codex Gray, Astronimican Gray with some broken space wolves equipment.
It takes no time to get a squad ready. Here are a shot of the finished product.

Α not so Grey ...Knight!

Something different this time. My previous try at a Grey knight model was disastrous for my pride. No matter the attempt  the results weren't satisfactional for me (Please look at the post 1/12/2010). So I picked up another model from the ''Failed Project Box'' and I came up with something different. It wasn't so difficult, but I like the results.Who knows, maybe I will make a 1500 list for them.

A Land Raider, 5 Terminators, 3 full Power armoured squads and a dreadnought are surely not a competitive list but a nice addition for apocalypse games against a Chaos Marine or a Daemon opponent.

Fluff : The Angels Sanguine and the other Imperial Organisations

As all heirs of Sanguinius the Angels Sanguine are a loyal chapter in the eyes of the Emperor. The relationships of this noble chapter and other loyal imperial organisations are excellent and many commanders regard the Angels like saviours in many occasions.
The Angels Sanguine have participated in many campaigns in tandem with the Dark Angels , Black Templars , Ultramarines , Space wolves and other Chapters. Indeed an Angel Sanguine Astartes is a warrior you want alongside you in every situation.
But no Chapter, no Company, no Brother, is more welcome than a Blood Angel. The Angels Sanguine more than often are participating in requests for help with their noble primogenitor Chapter not like a little brother seeking to gain the respect of the older sibling, but like a blood brother seeking to help itheir family in times of need. Ultramar, Armageddon, Siege of Corinth, are some of the Battles that Brothers of the same blood but in different colours fought side by side spilling their blood in the same mud.
This bond of Brotherhood between Blood and Sanguine Angels has caused a strange tradition. Battle Brothers of both chapters to exchange shoulder guards after the complition of succesfull campaigns. The strange part of the tradition is that the Machine Spirits of both armours are rejoicing at this exchange and treasure the new part like their own. The techmarines of the chapter cannot explain it still and they call t--his Tradition ''Same Blood , Same Armour''.

A Friend from the past.

This particular post is for the TAU. A dynamic army that is not lightning fast as the eldars, or sturdy and forgiving like Space Marines and Necrons, nor numerus like the Imperial Guard. It is an army thats rewards commanders skilled in combined arms tactics and fluid gamestyle.
Indeed a Tau commander has to know where to strike with overwhelming firepower and when to run shamelessly for his life. He has to know his opponent too becouse a slight mistake to target priority can easy spell his doom. Sure the empty Land Raider is an excellent target, but if you let this Assault Squad roam through your defence lines it will be your end. I really enjoy playing this Warhammer 40.000 race for this very reason.

The models are great too. For an Otaku like my self the XV8 Crisis suits and Gunships is a pleasure to paint while watching the ‘’Full Metal Panic’’ Anime Series. Beautifull, clean lines and flat surfaces can turn  grey frames to a really nice tabletop quality army with very basic painting tecniques.
But this model is special for me for an extra reason. This particular XV88 Broadside suit is used 3rd hand and has on its plastic body the remains of 4 different and ovelapping paint schemes. When i took it from my ‘’FAILED PROJECTS’’ box i was an intch away throwing it away .The model didn’t have a head. It was broken from the base section and armless.Thankfully i found an SMS set of hands (I did model another XV88 with T-L plasma rifles using the plastic hands, please look at the post on 12/07/2010 for more
> details) and i used a spare head taken from the XV8 Crisis commander sprue.I pinned the model on its base and Voila.
The painting was problematic too. I had to basecoat the model with thin coats of Shadow grey. It was a lot of work to cover all the model’s previous paint but rewarding never the less. Now I' m some euros richer and i am sure that I can recover more models from my ‘’FAILED PROJECTS‘’ box to the tabletop. I Encourage everyone to spend some time and repaint your models if you think that now your painting skilsl are better. It's cheap, it's fun and if done right it's rewarding in its own right.
(You see, I still believe that beautifully painted models have more luck when the dice roll!)

Speedpainting for a friend

Nope.Thats not the begining of a new project. This little Dwarf is taken from the old Battle for the Skull Pass Warhammer Fantasy Battle System Introduction Box. A friend had it for a long time and I had promised him to paint him something for his Dwarf army. I bought on his birthday a plastic cannon/organ gun but i didn't  like the models for the crew. On the other hand, the crew for the cannon of the Skull Pass Box is fantastic. I didn't take long to decide. Those Dwarves will be the crew members of the war machine.
